Changing Capsules

To change capsules on the Apex515, unhook the microphone from any phantom power source, unscrew the microphone pop filter
to expose the capsule. Unscrew the capsule and place in the case provided paying particular attention to not touch or bend the
contact points on the base of the capsule. When replacing the capsule, be careful not to cross thread the capsule onto the
microphone contact. Do not over tighten.

The cardioid capsule is the standard setting for almost all applications
o

and will deliver best results in most live applications. It offers full
frequency response at the front of the microphone while rejecting
off-axis sounds from the sides and back of the capsule. In most live

sound applications and remote recording Apex515's cardioid pattern
offers excellent feedback rejection, good isolation and very predictable
proximity effect (increased low frequency response when microphone

is placed close to sound source*).
The supercardioid capsule reacts very much like the cardioid capsule,
with a much tighter 'hot spot' and much better off-axis rejection. This
would be the preferred capsule for artists who are always close
miking to the source (singing right on the microphone), and for use on
high volume stages where maximum feedback rejection is required*.
The Omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound equally from all
around the microphone. This is mostly used for recording ambient
sounds, or when recording in an exceptionally good sounding live
room where the character, ambiance and tone of the studio needs to
be recorded, as well as the source voice or instrument. It would also
be the ideal choice for picking up audience interaction in a live recording
situation and exhibits no proximity effect*.
*Vocalists can use the proximity effect to their advantage, adding
fullness and more 'bottom end' to the voice. Experienced vocalists can
easily incorporate it as part of their overall microphone technique.
