TROUBLESHOOTING
Faults
Engine overheats
FI warning lamp (MIL) lights
up/flashes
High oil consumption
Battery discharged
Speedometer values deleted (time,
stop watch, lap times)
The high beam, low beam, parking
light, tail light, and license plate
lamp are not working
The speedometer, horn, brake
light, turn signal, and radiator fan
(optional) are not working
Possible cause
Coolant level low in cooling system
Insufficient airflow
Radiator fins very dirty
Foam formation in cooling system
Bent radiator hose
Thermostat defective
Defect in fuel injection system
Engine vent hose bent
Engine oil level too high
Engine oil too thin (low viscosity)
Piston and cylinder worn
Battery is not being charged by alter-
nator
Undesired power consumer
The battery in the speedometer is
discharged
Fuse 3 blown
Fuse 4 blown
Action
Check the cooling system for leaks.
Check the coolant level. (
Switch off engine when stationary.
Clean radiator fins.
Drain the coolant.

Check the thermostat.

Opening temperature: 70 °C (158 °F)
Stop the motorcycle and identify the faulty part
using the blink code.

Check the cabling for damage and the electri-
cal plug-in connections for corrosion and dam-
age.
Read out the fault memory using the KTM diag-
nostics tool.

Route the vent hose without bends or replace it
if necessary.
Check the engine oil level. (
Change the engine oil and oil filter, clean the
oil screen.
