    GETTING STARTED KEY FOB Locking And Unlocking The Doors/Liftgate • Press the LOCK button once to lock all the doors and the liftgate. Press the UNLOCK button once to unlock the driver’s door only and twice within five seconds to unlock all the doors and liftgate.

    GETTING STARTED THEFT ALARM To Arm: • Lock the door using either the power door lock switch (one door must be open) or the LOCK button on the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter (doors can be open or closed), and close all doors. NOTE: The Vehicle Security Alarm will not arm if you lock the doors with the manual door lock plungers.

    GETTING STARTED SEAT BELT • Be sure everyone in your vehicle is in a seat and using a seat belt properly. • Position the lap belt across your thighs, below your abdomen. To remove slack in the lap portion, pull up a bit on the shoulder belt. To loosen the lap belt if it is too tight, tilt the latch plate and pull on the lap belt.

Loosen the adjusters on the lower straps and on the tether strap of the child seat so that you can more easily attach the hooks or connectors to the vehicle anchorages.

CAUTION! Do not place any article under a power seat or impede its ability to move as it may cause damage to the seat controls.

    GETTING STARTED REAR SEATS Folding Rear Seatback • To fold each rear seatback, pull the strap forward to move the seatback forward and flat. Reclining Rear Seatback • To recline each rear seatback, pull the strap forward just enough to release the seatback latch.

    GETTING STARTED WARNING! • Persons who are unable to feel pain to the skin because of advanced age, chronic illness, diabetes, spinal cord injury, medication, alcohol use, exhaus- tion or other physical conditions must exercise care when using the seat heater. It may cause burns even at low temperatures, especially if used for long periods of time.

    OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS • A long break-in period is not required for the engine and drivetrain (transmission and axle) in your vehicle. • Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.
  • Page 25 OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE Instrument Panel Dimmer • Rotate the center portion of the lever to the extreme bottom position to fully dim the instrument panel lights and prevent the interior lights from illuminating when a door is opened. • Rotate the center portion of the lever up to increase the brightness of the instrument panel lights when the parking lights or headlights are on.

If the A/C system is on, turn it off. Also, shift the transmission into NEUTRAL and idle the vehicle.
  • Page 74 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES - Oil Pressure Warning Light • This light indicates low engine oil pressure. If the light turns on while driving, stop the vehicle and shut off the engine as soon as possible. A chime will sound when this light turns on.
  • Page 75 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES - Transmission Temperature Warning Light • This light indicates that there is excessive transmission fluid temperature that might occur with severe usage such as trailer towing. If this light turns on, you will experience reduced vehicle performance until the automatic transmission cools down.

To ease the installation process for steel wheels with wheel covers, install two lug nuts on the mounting studs which are on each side of the valve stem. Install the lug nuts with the cone shaped end of the nut toward the wheel.

    WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES JUMP-STARTING PROCEDURES • If your vehicle has a discharged battery it can be jump-started using a set of jumper cables and a battery in another vehicle or by using a portable battery booster pack. Jump-starting can be dangerous if done improperly so please follow the procedures in this section carefully.
