    Getting started Quick reference guide Cordless handset PHONE/FLASH Press to make or answer a call. During a call, press to receive an incoming call if call waiting is activated (see page 14). CID  While in menus, press to scroll down. When the telephone is not in use, press to display call log entries (see page 25).

    Getting started Before you begin Caller ID and call waiting The caller ID with call waiting features in this telephone let you see who's calling before answering the telephone, even when on another call. These features require services provided by your local telephone company.

    Getting started Telephone base installation Install the telephone base as shown below. Choose a location within the home: away from any other cordless (wireless) device such as cordless telephones, 802. • wireless router (for example, WiFi), and away from other electronic equipment, microwave oven, television, computer, etc. •...

    Getting started Battery installation & charging Press in and downward on the tab to open the battery compartment cover. After battery installation, place the cordless handset in the telephone base or charger and allow to charge for at least 6 hours before use. You can keep the battery charged by returning the cordless handset to the telephone base or charger after each use.

    Getting started Wall mounting The telephone base can be installed on any standard telephone outlet as shown below. Choose a location away from electronic equipment such as personal computers, com- puter routers, television sets or microwave ovens. Avoid excessive heat, cold, dust or moisture.

    Getting started Belt clip & optional headset For hands-free telephone conversations, use any industry standard 2.5 mm headset (pur- chased separately). For best results, use an AT&T 2.5 mm headset. Snap belt clip into notches on side of cordless handset. Rotate and pull to remove.

    RINGER: 1 DATE/TIME 1/01 12:00 NOTE: You can choose to set the time manually, or you can allow it to be set automatically with incoming caller ID information. The time will be set automat- ically only if you subscribe to the caller ID service provided by your local telephone company (see page 5).
  • Page 15 DIAL MODE: TONE LANGUAGE HIGH NOTE: If you choose OFF, the cordless handset ringer will be turned off, and the screen will display RINGER OFF when the cordless handset is idle (not in use). If there are any un-reviewed calls, the screen will display XX MISSED CALLS instead of RINGER OFF.

Pressing on any cordless handset will silence the ringer OFF/ CLEAR on that cordless handset, but will not cancel the page.

Call waiting If you have subscribed to call waiting service from the local telephone service provider, there will be a beep if someone calls while you are already on a call.

    Telephone operation Call transfer Call transfer During a conversation, you can transfer the call to another cordless handset. • Press /TRANSFER SELECT to another cordless handset. You will see ENTER - 4. After entering the destination handset number, the cordless handset will display CALL TRANSFERRED and the selected handset will begin ringing.

    PAT JOHNSON 5550100 Directory Memory capacity Each cordless handset has its own directory. Each direc- tory can store up to 30 entries (including nine speed dial locations). Each entry can contain a number up to 24 digits, and a name up to 5 letters. A convenient search feature can help find and dial numbers quickly (see page 2).
