Confirm that [Transfer Mode] is set to [DMA if available] in [start] - [Control Panel] -
[Performance and Maintenance] - [System] - [Hardware] - [Device Manager] - [IDE ATA/ATAPI
controllers] - [Secondary IDE Channel] - [Advanced Settings] - [Device 0]. Perform this
setting if it has not yet been made.
To format the second hard disk, perform the operation below.

Turn your computer on.
Be sure to log on with the administrator authority.

Select [Disk Management] in [start] - [Control Panel] - [Performance
and Maintenance] - [Administrative Tools] - [Computer Management]
- [Storage].

When [Welcome to the Initialize and Convert Disk Wizard] is
displayed, select [Next].

At [Select Disks to Initialize], add the check mark for [Disk 1] and
select [Next].

At [Select Disks to Convert], remove the check mark for [Disk 1] and
then select [Next].

Select [Finish].

Click the right side of [Disk 1] with the right button and select [New
Partition].
Follow the on-screen instructions.

When the operation completes, be sure to select [start] - [Turn off
computer] and restart the computer before using the second hard
disk.
