Becauseof potentialsafetyhazards
under certain conditions, we
stronglyrecommendagainst the
use of an adapter plug. However,
if you still elect to use an adapter,
where local codes permit, a
TEMPORARY CONNECTION
maybe made to a properlygrounded
usage
where
bedisconnected
circuit, groundingreducesthe risk
of electric shock by providingan
escape wire for the electric current.
This applianceis equippedwith a
power cord havinga grounding
wire with a groundingplug. The
plug must be pluggedinto an outlet
that is properly installedand
grounded. (Fig. 1)

on the adapter and leads to eventual

Youshouldhavethe two-prongwall
receptacle replaced with a three-
prong (grounding)receptacleby a

the appliance.

Because of potentialsafety hazards
undercertainconditions,we strongly
recommend againstthe use of an
extensioncord. However,if it is
necessa~yto use an extensioncord,
use only a 3-wire extensioncord
that has a 3-blade groundingplug,
and a 3-slot receptacle that will
accept the plug on the appliance.
The marked rating of the extension
cord shall be equal to or greater
than the electrical rating of the
appliance (15amperes).

The larger slot in the adapter must
be alignedwith the larger slot in the
wall receptacle to provide proper
polarity in the connection of the
power cord.
Such extension cords are obtainable
through General Electric service.
If you do use an extension cord
with your microwaveoven, the
interior light may flicker and the
blower sound may vary when oven
is in use. Cook times may be longer
as well.
Caution: Attaching the adapter
ground terminal to the wall
receptacle cover screw does not
ground the appliance unless the
cover screw is metal, and not
insulated, and the wall receptacle
is grounded through the house
wiring. Youshould have the circuit
checked by a qualified electrician
to make sure the receptacle is
properly grounded.
