TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem
Engine does not start:
The engine smokes
continuously:
Starting difficult or loss of
power:
Uneven running:
Engine overheats:
Mower vibrates
excessively:
(*) Maintenance of these points must be entrusted to an approved Honda dealer unless the
user has the necessary tools and is mechanically competent.

Probable cause
1.
No gas.
2.
Throttle lever is in "STOP" position (models
equipped rotostop).
3.
Spark plug cord incorrectly attached or
disconnected.
4.
Spark plug defective or incorrect gap.
5.
Engine flooded.
6.
The blade brake lever is not firmly held against
the handle (models fitted).
1.
Check the condition of the air filter (clogged).
1.
Impurities in fuel tank and/or fuel filter. Drain the
reservoir. Refil with fresh fuel.
2.
Air cleaner dirty.
3.
Water in gas tank and in carburetor. Drain the
reservoir. Refil with fresh fuel.
4.
Fuel tank filler cap vent and/or carburetor
obstructed (*).
1.
Spark plug defective or incorrect gap.
2.
Air cleaner dirty.
1.
Spark plug gap incorrect.
2.
Air cleaner dirty.
3.
Engine cooling fins clogged (*).
4.
Oil level too low.
5.
Starter pulley clogged by grass cuttings, etc (*).
1.
Blade or engine bolts slack.
2.
Blade unbalanced.
