Recommended Fluids and Lubricants

The following fluids apply to vehicles with a Duramax diesel engine and/or an Allison Transmission. For other fluids
not listed here, see Recommended Fluids and Lubricants in the owner manual.
Fluids and lubricants identified below by name, part number, or specification can be obtained from your dealer.

Engine oil meeting the dexos2
grade. AC Delco dexos2 Synthetic Blend is recommended. See Engine
Oil 0 92.
Engine oils with the letters CJ-4 are required for your vehicle. The CJ-4
designation can appear either alone or in combination with other American
Petroleum Institute (API) designations, such as API CJ-4/SL. These letters
show API levels of quality. To determine the preferred viscosity for your
vehicle's diesel engine, see Engine Oil 0 92.
50/50 mixture of clean, drinkable water and use only DEX-COOL

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (GM Part No. 19286291, in Canada 88862660) or
diesel exhaust fluid that meets ISO 22241-1 or displays the API Diesel
Exhaust Fluid Certification Mark.
GM Power Steering Fluid (GM Part No. 89021185, in Canada 89021186).
