Courtesy Light; Hand Brake Signal; Autronic-Eye - Oldsmobile 1955 Owner's Manual

The Courtesy Lights are installed on sides at the
bottom of the dash panel. They automatically turn on when either front door
is opened, lighting up the front compartment floor area. The manual switch,
located at bottom of dash beneath the glove compartment, is used for oper-
ating lights while front doors are closed.
HAND BRAKE SIGNAL
The Hand Brake warning light, which is an added safety feature, is located
on the parking brake mounting bracket. This light warns the driver when-
ever the parking brake is applied with the ignition switch "on" .
AUTRON IC-EYE
Mounted on the instrument panel at the
left side of the windshield, the Autronic-
Eye picks up the beam of an approaching
car's headlights and automatically dims
your own at a safe distance from the on-
coming car. After the car has passed, the
Autronic-Eye switches the headlights back
to bright unless another oncoming car is
within its range of operation.

Turn on headlights.
2. With Autronic Eye switch in "OFF" position, adjust headlights to upper
beam (bright) using the foot dimmer switch.
