When the system is turned on, the display lights all segments on the LCD, shows the software revision level, and the local gravitational constant.

Strain-gauge force cells convert the force of an applied weight into an analog signal. This signal is amplified by an operational amplifier and converted to a digital signal by an analog to digital converter.

The load cell and integrated electronics have no user serviceable components and should not be tampered with for any reason. Re-calibration must be performed when the seal is broken.
