Driving
your new
FALCON

T TAKE CHANCES
For your own safety,
don't
start or
run
any car's engine
in
a
closed
garage or
poorly
ventilated building.
The
gases
from
the ex haust system con-
tain poisonous
carbon
monox-
ide which
can endanger
your
health
or
life if
breathed stead-
ily for
even a
few
minutes.
Be safe-ventilate-before
you start
.
BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE
If
your
Falcon has
Conventional
Drive, place the gear
shift
lever in its
neutral posi-
t ion before
you
turn the kel: in the ignition
switch
to
start
the
engine.
(In
cold
weather, you can start a
cold
engine
more easily
.
if
you
hold down the
clutch pedal while operating the starter.
)
If
your
Falcon has
the
Fordomatic Drive,
the
selector
lever must
be either at
N
or
P
in order to operate the
starter.
As
a safety
feature, the
starter
is
auto-
matically
locked
out
in all
other lever
positions
to
prevent
anyone
acciden-
tally
moving the
car
by
starting
with
the
transmission
in gear.
