Important Safety Advice
Never immerse the appliance, the connecting cable or
plug in water.
The electric heater must not be used in the immediate
vicinity of a bath, shower or swimming pool.
Use the appliance only in a dry environment. If you are
using it on a balcony or on the terrace, make absolutely
sure that the appliance is under cover and protected
against damp.
Only connect the appliance to a properly installed socket
outlet
with the specified voltage as that on the rating
label.
Shaver sockets that are not earthed are not
suitable.
The appliance must be switched off when you plug it
into the power socket.
Do not use the heater if the appliance or power cord are
visibly damaged or if the heater has been dropped.
Check the heating bars and connection cable regularly.
Prevent damage to the cable from sharp edges or heat.
Place the cable in such a way that it cannot become a
stumbling trap.
Connect the appliance only to a 1,500 watt output
extension lead.
Remove the mains plug, if a disturbance occurs during
use, after use and before cleaning. When doing so,
always pull the plug itself - never the cable.
The supply cord should be regularly examined for signs
of damage and the appliance is not to be used if the
cord is damaged.
If the mains lead is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified
person in order to avoid a hazard.
Do not locate the heater immediately above or below a
fixed socket outlet or connection box.
Keep combustible materials away from the heater.
Do not position patio furniture, sunshades, awnings and
other combustible materials too close to the heater.
Never cover the appliance and never place anything over
or on the appliance. Keep it away from all flammable
objects - at a safe distance of at least 500mm.
Never operate the appliance without
Stand the electric heater on a level surface. The electric
heater will only work if placed on a level surface. On an
uneven ground the safety switch on the underside of
the appliance may not be pressed in and the electric
heater will fail to operate. For safety reasons this switch
must not be bridged or otherwise disabled. Please keep
the safety switch clean to ensure that it functions
correctly.
Never use the appliance together with switch units such
as a timer which automatically turns the appliance on –
it may become a fire hazard, if the appliance has been
accidentally covered or moved!
Never clean the appliance with highly flammable cleaning
agents such as petrol or spirit.
Let the appliance cool completely before storing it away.

General
Your Dimplex Terrace Heater is intended for use on a patio or
terrace area adjoining your home. It is specifically designed
for domestic use, and is not suitable for commercial
applications.
Electrical
This heater must only be connected to an A.C.~ supply. The
supply voltage must correspond to the voltage shown on the
heaters rating label. This heater is fitted with a plug
incorporating a 13 amp fuse. When replacing the fuse, a 13
amp fuse approved by ASTA to BS 1362 must be used.
IMPORTANT : The wires in this mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the following code :
BROWN :
BLUE :
GREEN & YELLOW :
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead may not
correspond with the coloured markings in your plug, proceed
as follows :
Connect the BROWN wire to the terminal marked 'L' or
coloured RED. Connect the BLUE wire to the terminal marked
'N' or coloured BLACK. Note : 'L' or 'N' must not be connected
to the EARTH terminal marked 'E' or
or GREEN AND YELLOW.
If in doubt, consult your electrician.
Assembling the appliance
Only after the heater has been fully assembled, should the
protective polystyrene foam be removed from the heating
element.
Place the heating element together with the stand carefully
on the floor so that the heating bars face downwards.
Place the lower end of the stand into the base half which has
a pin on the inside. The pin should be pushed into the top
hole of the stand.
Place the second half of the base on to the first half and
press the two halves together until they engage.
Insert the screw provided in the hole on the side of the base
in which there is not a nut, and screw everything together
tight for use - see Fig. 2.
If a 13 A (BS1363) plug is used it must be fitted with a 13 A
fuse conforming to BS1362 and be ASTA approved. If any
other type of plug is used, the appliance must be protected
by a 10A fuse either in the plug or adapter or at the distribution
board.
If in doubt – consult a qualified electrician.
Never use the plug without closing the fuse cover.
Heating
1. Stand the electric heater in a dry place. The floor must be
even so that the safety switch on the underside is pressed
in.
2.Turn the heating element until it engages horizontally.
Hazard: Only connect the heater to a properly installed
mains socket outlet with the specified voltage as that on
the rating label.
3. Ensure the output control switch is set to 0 and connect
the plug to a socket.
4. Adjust with the output control switch to the desired setting:
0 = Off
1 = one heating bar On
2 = both heating bars On
