The drive motor on the Pro-Form XP Trainer 580 may be heating up and emitting a smell due to several possible reasons:
1. Overuse or Overloading – Prolonged use or excessive weight on the treadmill may strain the motor. 2. Insufficient Ventilation – Blocked airflow around the motor can cause overheating. 3. Belt or Roller Issues – A misaligned or overly tight belt may cause extra resistance, forcing the motor to work harder. 4. Lack of Maintenance – Accumulated dust, dirt, or lack of lubrication can lead to overheating. 5. Electrical Issues – A faulty power cord, controller, or circuit breaker may cause excessive power draw, leading to overheating.
To prevent further damage, inspect the belt alignment, ensure proper ventilation, clean the motor area, and check for any unusual resistance while operating the treadmill. If the issue persists, consult an authorized service representative.
