Oil
Check oil levelregularly.
Besurecorrect o il levelismaintained. C heck everyfive hours or dailybefore
startingengine.See oil checking procedure inthe Operation section.
ChangeEngineOil
Gasolineand itsvaporsare extremely flammable andexplosive.Fireor
explosioncancause severe burnsor death.
Change engine o il after thefirstfivehours ofoperation, and every fifty hours or
once aseason thereafter.
Beforetipping the unit to drain the oil,the fuel tank mustbe empty or fuel
can leakoutand resultin a fire or explosion.Toempty the fuel tank, run
the engine until it stopsfrom lackof fuel.
IMPORTAN_ B esureto check engineona levelsurface with the engine stopped.
Drainthe oil whilethe engineisstill warmto assure rapidandcomplete draining.
1.
With engine off but still warm,disconnect the sparkplugwireandkeepit
awayfromthe sparkplug.
2.
Place a suitablecontainer n extto the engineto catchthe usedoil.
3.
Remove t he drainpluganddrainthe oil intothe container b ytippingthe
enginetowardtheoil fill/dipstkk. SeeFigure 18.
Used oil isa hazardouswasteproduct. Dispose o f used oil properly. Donot
discardwith household w aste. Check with your localauthorities or Sears
ServiceCenter f or safe disposal/recyclingfacilities.
4.
Reinstall the drainplugandtightenit securely.
5.
Refillwith the recommended o il andcheck the oil level. Refer t o the
Operation Section.
Runningthe engine with a low oil levelcan causeengine damage.
6.
Reinstall the o11 f ill dipsticksecurely.
CarbonCanister Filter
Thefoamcarboncanister f ilter mustbecleaned or replaced oncea yearor every100
operatinghours.
1.
Remove t he nutssecuring the recoilhousing asshownin Figure 19and
remove.
2.
Afterremoving the recoilhousing, r emove the nutssecuring the inner
shroud.
3.
Lift up innerengineshroudandcarefullypullout carboncanister f ilter
assembly f rom undershroudasshownin Figure 20.
4.
Remove c apfromendofcanister a ndpullout roundfoamfilter from inside
the assembly. SeeFigure 20.Clean element o r replace whendamaged.
