UsingYourLawnMower
Besurelawnisclearof stones, s ticks, w ire, or otherobjectswhichcoulddamage
lawnmoweror engine.Such objectscouldbeaccidently thrownbythe mowerin
anydirectionandcause serious personal injury to theoperatorandothers.
Once the engineisrunningandwhilecontinuingto holdthe bladeanddrive
controls together, p ushthe drivecontrol f orwardto propelmower. T hefarther
the control i spushed forward,the fasterthe mowerwill propel.Once pressure is
released f rom the controlit will returntothe neutralpositionandthedrivewill be
disengaged. Refer t o Figure 15.
NOTE: Forease of use,whilegrippingthe controls, s implylockyourwristand
elbows andwalk- the unitwill automatically adjustto yourspeed.
Theoperationof any lawn mowercan resultinforeign objects being
thrown intothe eyes,whichcandamageyour eyesseverely. Always
wearsafetyglasses whileoperating the mower,or whileperforming any
adjustments or repairs on it.
Usingas Mulcher
Formulching grass, r emove the grasscatcher o r sidedischarge c hutefrom the
mower.Whenyouremove the grasscatcher f rom the mower,the reardischarge
doorwill close. W hen you remove the sidedischarge c hute,the mulchingcoverwill
close. F oreffectivemulching,do notcut wetgrass. I fthe grasshasbeenallowedto
growinexcess o f fourinches, m ulchingisnot recommended. Use the grass catcher
to bagclippingsinstead.

Youcanusethe grass catcherto collect c lippingswhileyouareoperatingthe
mower.
1.
Attachgrasscatcher f ollowing instructions inthe "Assembly" s ection.Grass
clippingswill automatically collectinbagasyou runmower.Operate mower
untilgrassbagisfull.
2.
Stopenginecompletely byreleasing the bladecontrol.Makesurethatthe
unit has cometo acompletestop.
3.
Lift discharge d oorandpullgrassbagupandawayfrom the mowerto
remove the bag.Dispose o fthe grassclippings andreinstall t he bagwhen
complete.
NOTE: Makesureto cleananyexcess grass from aroundthe rearopeningof
the mower,especially betweenthe transmission c overandsidewallonthe
left handsideandalongthe bottom,to ensure tight fit of bagontomower.
If you strike a foreign object, stop the engine.Disconnect t he sparkplug
wire, thoroughly inspectmowerfor any damage,andrepairdamage
before restarting andoperating. Extensive vibration of mower during
operationis an indication of damage.Theunit should be promptly
inspectedandrepaired.
