Word searches are implemented in
various ways: word input, phonetic
spell correction, disinfl ection,
MatchMaker, alphasearch, phrase
keyword search, and pick mode.
Word input searching occurs
as described in this section,
"Translating German Words" and
in "Translating English Words" on
page 70. This is simply typing a
whole word that has a matching
entry in the dictionary.
Phonetic spell correction occurs
when you misspell a word
when typing it or type a word
that is not in the dictionary. For
more information, please see
"Misspelling Words" on page 69.
Disinfl ection happens when you
search for an infl ected form of a
word. You will see the entry for the
root word.

not already know. For more
information, please see "Finding
Letters in Words" on page 69.
Alphasearch is used in the TOEFL®
Test and SAT® word lists. You can go

by typing the fi rst few letters of a
word. For more information, please
see "Viewing the TOEFL® Test Word
List" on page 81 and "Viewing the
SAT® Word List" on page 81.
Phrase keyword search is used
to fi nd all phrases that contain a
typed or highlighted word. For
more information, please see
"Translating Travel Phrases" on
page 74.
