Hard disk drives
For the server is available in two chassis variants:
For up to 8 3.5-inch SAS/SATA HDD
Up to four SAS/SATA HDD modules can be used in the standard HDD cage.
Each HDD module can accommodate a SAS/SATA HDD with a maximum
height of 1 inch. The module is connected to the SAS/SATA backplane
wirelessly. This allows HDD modules to be plugged in and pulled out easily.
Optionally, you can install a HDD extension box:
– 4 x 3.5-inch HDD extension box for up to four additional 3.5-inch
SAS/SATA HDD modules and a slimline optical disk drive
For up to 24 2.5-inch SAS/SATA HDD/SSD:
Up to eight or sixteen SAS/SATA HDD/SSD modules can be used in the
standard HDD cage. Each HDD/SSD module can accommodate an
SAS/SATA HDD/SSD with a 2.5-inch format. The module is connected to the
SAS/SATA backplane wirelessly. This allows HDD/SSD modules to be
plugged in or pulled out easily.
Optionally, you can install a HDD extension box:
– 8 x 2.5-inch HDD extension box for up to eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA
HDD/SSD modules

A SAS expander is required for configurations, which can be equipped
with more than eight HDDs.

– Mixed configurations with Eco SATA drives and SAS drives are not
allowed.
– 2.5-inch SAS drives and 2.5-inch BC SATA drives can be mixed, but
not used in one logical RAID volume.
Onboard SAS/SATA controller
A SAS/SATA controller is integrated on the system board; up to four SAS or
SATA hard disk drives can be connected to the controller. The LSI Embedded
MegaRAID software (Software RAID) supports RAID levels 0, 1 and 10. The
SAS functionallity needs to be enabled separately by using a ROM1 SCU Key.
