The Inmarsat mini-C protocol is primarily a text and data system.
While images or attachments can be sent via the system, the
process is very slow and can become expensive. As a result, KVH
recommends that you limit your eTrac transmissions to text and
data messages. If you do send an image or attachment, the
recipient will need to rename the file with the appropriate file type;
the file name and file type are not transmitted.
E-mail Limitations
Because of the design of the Inmarsat-C service, there are certain limitations to the
size of the messages that can be sent:

You can send messages up to 10 K in size via Inmarsat-C. However,
depending on variations in the Inmarsat-C service, you may be able
to transmit a message that is larger than 10 K (for example, 11 K or
12 K). The exact size can fluctuate but will never be less than 10 K.
•
The easyMail application will inform you if the message being sent
is too large to transmit.
