Note: Make sure the ignition is in the OFF position, and
the spark plug is disconnected before servicing.
• Maintain proper engine oil and crankcase levels.
Change every 25-50 hours.
• Clean spark plugs regularly, and set the proper gap.
• Wash the air cleaner element in a non oil-based solvent, then squeeze out residue.
Allow filter to dry before reinstalling in cleaner.
• Keep a coating of grease on the drive shaft and threads for easy installation or removal,
and for longer hex bushing life.
• Grease the two drive shaft bearings every 4 hours.
Grease should be added slowly while the shaft is hand rotated, until a slight bead
of grease forms at the seals. Use a lithium-based, high temperature grease
(LubriLab S-350) into each cleaned grease fitting. DO NOT OVERFILL.
Note: After machine serial number 11511 DO NOT GREASE BEARINGS.
Lifetime lubrication installed. No grease fitting required.
• Grease the tilt lever, lower linkage.
(Clean dirt off of fittings before greasing.)
• Check all fasteners and re-tighten, since the machine will vibrate the fasteners loose if they
are not secured.
• Check the two "V" belts for wear, and adjust (tighten), or replace as required. To replace belts,
check for tightness:
1) Loosen the four engine bolts (ILL# 5, pg. 20) and slide the engine back.
2) Loosen the two side cap screws (ILL# 56, pg. 18), letting Engine mount slide down.
3) Adjust or replace belts as needed, making sure they are aligned properly.
4) Slide engine forward and re-tighten bolts.
5) Place one foot on the Main Frame while lifting up on the engine mount to re-tighten
Cap Screws, making sure the belts are stretched and tight.
• Check that the pulleys are aligned properly to ensure the "V" belt is running true.
• Check wheel for wear and that they are rotating properly, replace if worn. Clean wheels of
material build-up.
• The inside housing must be clean, and remove any build-up from inside the cage so cutters
and drum rotate freely.
• Inspect and change drum bushings and shafts every 40 hours, or when worn (65050 Drum only).
