Hot Gas/Water Reheat
Dehumidification (Option) (Unit
Sizes 019 – 070)
Hot Gas Reheat (HGRH) allows superior humidity control
by utilizing a second air coil to provide dehumidification
and tempered air to the conditioned space.
A field supplied humidistat is required. Wire the
humidistat to the dual terminal block (TB1) on the I/O
expansion module.
Note: Hot Gas Reheat (HGRH) utilizes high fan speed.
Desuperheater (Option) For VFC/
VFW (019-070)
A desuperheater heats water for domestic use by
pumping water though a coaxial heat exchanger so that
it passes by superheated refrigerant gas.
1 .
Turn off gas supply or electric supply to water heater
tank .
2 .
Close water supply valve on water heater tank.
3 .
Connect hose to drain on water heater tank. Run
hose to suitable drain.
4 .
Open drain valve on tank and pull pressure relief
valve to assist draining. Let tank drain completely.
5 .
Flush tank of sediment by opening water supply
valve until clear water flows from hose.
6 .
Close supply valve. Once tank is empty, close
pressure relief and water tank drain valves.
7 .
Drain tank by opening drain valve on the bottom
of the tank, then open pressure relief valve or hot
water faucet .
8 .
Once drained, the tank should be flushed with cold
water until the water leaving the drain hose is clear
and free of sediment.
9 .
Close all valves and remove the drain hose.
10 . Install piping for desuperheater following the
guidelines below:
For piping length up to 15 feet:
• •Use 3/8" O.D. (or larger) copper tube.
For piping lengths of 15 feet to 60 feet:
• •Use 1/2" O.D. copper tube.
Notes: All exposed water lines must be insulated with
3/8" wall closed-cell insulation.
Install shut-off valves on desuperheater supply
and return lines.
11 . Refill tank by opening the water tank supply valve.

12 . Vent air from the system by opening a hot water
faucet. Close faucet when air is purged from system.
13 . Check for water leaks and repair as necessary
14 . Restore gas supply or electric supply to water heater tank.
Units with the desuperheater option must be drained prior to
exposure to temperatures that will cause the water to freeze,
resulting in damage to the desuperheater. Damage from freezing
is not covered under the Daikin product warranty.
All Federal, State and local codes should be followed when
installing the desuperheater. Installation must be performed by a
qualified plumber and electrician.
Sufficient water flow must be provided. Damage to the
desuperheater pump from lack of water flow is not covered by
the Daikin product warranty.
