Before using the printer functions

User authentication
NOTE
• When the "Authentcaton mode" feature s actvated, you wll be requred to
authentcate yourself usng your doman user name and password pror to
accessng the machne functons. (Refer to "Network authentcaton settngs" on
page 9-49.)
• When the "User Access/Cost Accountng" feature s actvated for the fax mode,
you wll be requred to logn as an OfficeDrector user pror to accessng the fax
functons. (Refer to "User Access/Cost Accountng" on page 8-8.)
• When the "User Logn Settng" feature s actvated, you wll be requred to logn
as an OfficeDrector user pror to accessng the machne functons. (Refer to "User
Logn Settng" on page 9-27.)
Online / Offline
Online

The state n whch the machne can receve data from a personal computer and can
prnt the data s called "Onlne". When the prntng data s comng from a personal
computer, t s necessary that the machne s onlne. Make sure that the machne
s onlne when you prnt. If the machne s not onlne, set the machne to the onlne
state usng the followng procedure.

Press <PRINTER>.

Press [On Lne].
Offline

The state n whch the machne cannot receve data s called "Offlne".
It s necessary that the machne s offlne when you cancel a prnt job from a per-
sonal computer.
NOTE
If you try to prnt data from a personal computer whle the machne s offlne, the
message "Press the [Onlne] button to prnt" s shown and the machne s not aval-
able for prntng.
