Troubleshooting Guide

What might appear to be a malfunction in your unit may just be the result of slight misoperation or miswiring. Before
calling service, first check the following table for possible problems.
PROBLEM
The power is not turned on.
No sound can be heard, or the
volume is low.
The front or rear speaker does
not output sound.
Nothing happens when the
buttons are pressed.
The 16kHz indicator of the
spectrum analyzer does not
light.
Hiss noise is generated.
The sound is distorted.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
The fuse has blown.
The power control cable are connected incorrectly.
The fader and/or balance settings are set all the way to
one side.
The input/output cables or wiring harness are connected
incorrectly.
The main unit panel is open.
The fader is set to one side.
The computer chip in the unit is not functioning normally.
In particular, the indicator may not light for a cassette
tape because the 16kHz level of the source is low.
The graphic equalizer level is too high.
The power amp input sensitivity setting is wrong.
The main unit input sensitivity setting is wrong.
After checking for short circuits in the cables, replace the
fuse with one having the same rating.
Connect the same cable to the centre unit.
Reset the fader and/or balance settings.
Connect the input/output cable or wiring harness correctly.
See "Connections".
Close the panel.
Adjust the fader.
Press the reset button on the unit (see page 3).
If it lights when you play a compact disc, there is no
problem.
Set the graphic equalizer level to a correct level.
If the front and rear level gain is set to "HIGH", set the power
amp input sensitivity to 4V.
Match the main unit input sensitivity setting to the output
voltage of the centre unit (see page 7).
