TAKING CARE OF UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS

ENGINE PROBLEMS

Starter operates, but engine will not start
Possible cause
Throttle not in proper
position.
Fuel valve is OFF.
Sediment cup obstructed.
Stale or old fuel.
Spark plug cap off.
Improper electrode gap or
deposits in the spark plug gap.
Correction
Throttle must be in FAST
position, choke OFF for a hot
start, choke ON for a cold start
(see page 22).
Turn fuel valve to ON
(see page 22).
Check for contaminates in
sediment cup (see page 53).
Be sure tank has fresh fuel.
Drain carburetor and sediment
cup (see page 53).
Make sure cap is connected.
Verify that spark plug is free of
deposits, and has proper gap
(see page 44).
