Symptom
No sound is heard when you
tap the touchscreen or press
a key.
Missing pixels on the display. Faulty LCD.
COM1 or COM2 port is not
working.
No response when
ActiveSync is initiated.
No keys are working on the
optional keyboard.
Application does not
respond.

Volume is turned down.
Application currently running
disabled the sound.
Faulty speaker.
Another application is using
the port.
ActiveSync cable not connect-
ed properly.
ActiveSync is not configured
properly in the Control Panel.
The keyboard is not properly
connected to the terminal.
The application does not re-
quire keyboard input.
Terminal is not responding.
Terminal is not communicat-
ing with the AP (Communica-
tion LED is solid red).
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Action
Adjust the volume in the Control
Panel.
Configure the application to enable
the sound.

Stop the application using the port
and retry. Use COM1 port for scan-
ning and COM2 port for ActiveSync.
Connect the ActiveSync cable.

Check the cable connections
between the keyboard and the
terminal.
Configure the application to use the
keyboard.
Cold boot the terminal.
