4 Key Assignment

4.1

Overview

The TK-7100H/8100H has four PF (Programmable
Function) keys: [MON], [SCN], [ ] and [ ].
You can assign functions to each key.
4.2

Description of Functions

4.2.1 None

No function is assigned when selecting None.

4.2.2 Group Down

This function allows you to decrease the Group
Number.
Press the key to decrease the Group Number. Press
and hold the key for more than one second to
continuously decrease the Group Number.
The transceiver skips Groups that are not
programmed.
Scan pauses when pressing the [Group Down] key,
but restarts again after one second.

4.2.3 Group Up

This function allows you to increase the Group
Number.
Press the key to increase the Group Number. Press
and hold the key for more than one second to
continuously increase the Group Number.
The transceiver skips Groups that are not
programmed.
Scan pauses when pressing the [Group Up] key, but
restarts again after one second.

4.2.4 Monitor

The Monitor function permits a channel to be
monitored using carrier squelch. It may be used to
insure the channel is clear before transmitting.
Press the [Monitor] key to disable the Signalling and
open the Squelch with a Carrier.
The MON icon appears when this function is
operating.
Press and hold the [Monitor] key for more than one
second to unmute the speaker.
This function is used to listen for weak radio signals
and to adjust the volume when there is no signal.
You can hear background noise when the transceiver
unmutes.
The MON icon appears when Squelch is open.
Press the [Monitor] key again to disable this function.
Press the [Monitor] key to reset the Option Signalling.

4.2.5 Key Lock

This function allows you to lock the transceiver's
keys.
This prevents the user from inadvertently changing
the Channel or pausing Scan.
Press the [Key Lock] key to lock the transceiver. The
user can press only the keys required for
communications.
The Key Lock icon appears when this function is
active. The icon flashes when one of locked keys is
pressed.
The following keys remain active when the
Key Lock is activated:
PTT
Emergency
Monitor
VOL UP/DOWN
The [VOL UP/DOWN] keys can be locked by
enabling "Volume Lock in Edit > Optional Features" of
the FPU.
Press the [Key Lock] key again to exit this function.
This function is not disabled even if the transceiver is
turned Off.

4.2.6 Talk Around

This function allows you to transmit using the receive
frequency and Decode Signalling (QT/DQT)
programmed for the Channel.
This is used when communicating directly between
transceivers.
The receiving party waits for a call on the normal
receive frequency and Decode Signalling (QT/DQT).
The transmitting party must transmit using the same
frequency and Signalling.
Press the [Talk Around] key to activate this function
and press again to deactive.
When the OST and Talk Around functions are both
activated, the OST function is executed first, as the
Signalling operation.
