3. Remove the air cleaner housing cover (1) by
removing four screws (2).
4. Take out the air cleaner housing cover with air
cleaner (3) and clean the air cleaner by tapping it
lightly to loosen dust. Blow away the remaining dust
by applying compressed air from the inside of the
air cleaner.
Replace the air cleaner if it is excessively dirty, torn
or damage.
5. Install the air cleaner.
6. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of
removal.

Drive Chain

(Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 39.)
The service life of the drive chain is dependent upon
proper lubrication and adjustment. Poor maintenance
can cause premature wear or damage to the drive
chain and sprockets.
The drive chain should be checked and lubricated as
part of the Pre-ride Inspection (page 32). Under severe
usage, or when the motorcycle is ridden in unusually
dusty or muddy areas, more frequent maintenance will
be necessary.
Inspection
1. Turn the engine off, place the motorcycle on its side
stand, and shift the transmission into neutral.
2. Check slack in the lower drive chain run midway
between the sprockets.
Drive chain slack should be adjusted to allow the
following vertical movement by hand:
10 – 20 mm (0.4 – 0.8 in)
