Basic Radio Operation (cont.)
Before you can send or receive in conventional operation, the radio must be
set to the desired mode and programmed via RSS with the appropriate
conventional frequencies (positions 2 through 16 on rotary mode selector). In
conventional operation, a mode is a conventional channel and all features "slaved"
to it .
Four conventional channels replace every one trunked system.
Trunked Systems and Conventional Modes
1.
Turn the radio on and select the desired system and mode (see "Selecting a
Trunked System and Mode" or "Selecting a Conventional Mode").
2.
Listen until you hear a transmission, then adjust the volume control for a
comfortable listening level.
3.
Your radio is now set to receive calls on the selected system and mode.
Notes:
If the mode selector knob is placed on an unprogrammed system (blank
system), you will hear an "invalid mode" tone until the mode selector
knob is rotated to a programmed (valid) system.
If the mode is busy during conventional operation, the radio's red LED
will blink in the receive mode.
