applicant category Classification that determines the
storage location for applicant data and the type of
information stored. Some ID-4000 systems have multiple
applicant categories for storing one type of applicant
data separately from another. Employee data, for
example, can be stored separately from visitor data. In
this example, "Employee" and "Visitor" are separate
applicant categories.
application template Indicates the capabilities of
particular ID-4000 stations. For example, the ID-4000
Security Identification and Badging Station is an ID-4000
application template with full ID-4000 capabilities. The
ID-4000 Security Verification Station is another ID-4000
application template. It can be used for verifying
applicant records and images, but it cannot capture
images or print badges.
arrow keys On your computer keyboard usually to the
right of the letter keys, are the UP ARROW, DOWN
ARROW, LEFT ARROW, and RIGHT ARROW keys,
collectively referred to as the "arrow keys." You can use
these keys to navigate from field to field in a window.
ASCII file
A standard text file format, recognizable by
most computers. "ASCII" is the abbreviation for
American Standard Code for Information Exchange.
audit log Captures the date, time, and the operator's
user ID for many different ID-4000 transactions. For more
information on the types of transactions that the audit
log captures, refer to Chapter 5.
authorizing signature A single signature that is printed
on every badge as a counterfeiting deterrent. An
authorizing signature is often the signature of a company
executive or security department official.
bar-code A code consisting of a number of magnetic
ink lines that are imprinted on a label in varying widths
and that can be read with a scanner device.
browse list A list that displays all records that match a
search criteria. You scroll through the list using the
arrow keys and the PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys. To
display one of the browse list records in a data entry
