If operating the machine where the ambient
temperature could drop to 5°F (-15°C) or less,
remove the battery from the machine at the end of
the day. Store the battery in a warm place until the
next use. This will help start the engine easily at low
ambient temperatures.

Every 250 Hours of Operation

Perform the following maintenance every 250 hours
of operation.
• Drain Fuel Tank
• Check and Clean Radiator Fins
• Check and Adjust Cooling Fan V-Belt
• Check and Adjust the Governor Lever and Engine
Speed Control
• Clean Air Cleaner Element
Drain Fuel Tank
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD!
Diesel fuel is flammable and explosive under
certain conditions.
When you remove any fuel system component
to perform maintenance (such as changing the
fuel filter) place an approved container under
the opening to catch the fuel.
NEVER use a shop rag to catch the fuel. Vapors
from the rag are flammable and explosive.
Wipe up any spills immediately.
Wear eye protection. The fuel system is under
pressure and fuel could spray out when you
remove any fuel system component.
Failure to comply will result in death or serious
injury.

DANGER
ALWAYS be environmentally responsible.
Follow the guidelines of the EPA or other
governmental agencies for the proper disposal
of hazardous materials such as engine oil,
diesel fuel and engine coolant. Consult the local
authorities or reclamation facility.
NEVER
dispose
irresponsibly by dumping them into a sewer, on
the ground, or into ground water or waterways.
Failure
to
follow
seriously harm the environment.
Note that a typical fuel tank is illustrated.
1. Position an approved container under the diesel
fuel tank (Figure 5-9, (1)) to collect the
contaminates.
2. Remove the fuel cap (Figure 5-9, (3)).
3. Remove the drain plug (Figure 5-9, (2)) of the
fuel tank to drain the contaminates (water, dirt,
etc.) from the bottom of the tank.
4. Drain the tank until clean diesel fuel with no
water and dirt flows out. Reinstall and tighten the
drain plug firmly.
5. Reinstall the fuel cap.
6. Check for leaks.
