Troubleshooting

What appears to be a malfunction may not always be serious. Please go through the following list before requesting
service.
POWER
Symptom
Power does not come on.
OPERATION
Symptom
The remote control unit does not work.
The PAL/NTSC button on the remote
control does not work.
The TV/VIDEO - CANCEL, 5/∞/2/3 or
numeric buttons do not work.
Operation is not possible.
The VIDEO SIGNAL SELECTOR on the
rear panel cannot be worked.
When using the TITLE/GROUP button to
select a title during DVD VIDEO playback,
appears on the TV screen and the title
cannot be selected.
Possible cause
Power plug is not inserted securely.
Possible cause
Too far from the unit.
The tip of the remote control unit is not
pointed in the right direction.
Batteries are exhausted.
Battery polarity is incorrect.
The remote control unit is not set for
operating your TV.
The NTSC/REMOTE/PAL switch is not
correctly set.
The TV - DVD switch is not correctly set.
Microcomputer malfunction due to
lightning or static electricity.
Moisture condensation caused by a
sudden change of temperature or
humidity.
The disc does not allow the operation, or
a non-playable disc is loaded.
The switch position changed while unit
power is on.
Disc content does not allow the
operation.

Remedy
Plug in securely.
Remedy
More closer to the unit.
Point the infrared signal window toward
the remote sensor on the front panel (see
page 13).
Replace the batteries with new ones.
Take out the batteries and insert them
again in the correct direction.
Set the remote control unit for operating
your TV (see page 14).
Set the NTSC/REMOTE/PAL switch on the
rear panel to "REMOTE" while the unit is
turned off (see page 9).
To control the unit, set the TV - DVD
switch to "DVD". To control your TV, set
the TV - DVD switch to "TV" (see page 14).
Turn off the power and unplug the power
cord, then connect the power cord again.
Turn off the power, then turn it on a few
hours later.
Check and replace the disc (see page 4).
Change the switch position while unit
power is off.
Try to press 7 and select a title using the
numeric buttons on the remote control.
