Adjusting the surround sound
To turn off the 3D PHONIC
screen, press
. The 3D
ENTER
PHONIC screen disappears if
there are no operations for
more than 10 seconds.

You can select a simulated surround effect depending on the disc contents. If you
connect the unit to your stereo system, you can enhance sound quality and
produce a greater surround effect.

The sound effect (3D PHONIC) works correctly when playing back discs
recorded with Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital 5.1-CH or MPEG Multichannel
5.1-CH format.
It also works when playing back discs other than those above, but does not
provide the corecct effect.

The sound effect is not possible, and will not work even if set when the unit
outputs a DTS or Dolby Digital or MPEG bitstream signal from the DIGITAL
OUT jack.

The sound effect will not be set or operate, even if
sound of DVD discs recorded in Linear PCM.
¶
When you set the 3D PHONIC function to on, the DOWN MIX and
COMPRESSION setting in the PREFERENCE 2 display and settings in the
SPK.SETTING are disabled.
