Advanced features
The focus does not adjust automatically.
● Focus is set to the manual mode.
HSet focus to the auto mode. (
● The lens is dirty or covered with condensation.
HClean the lens and check the focus again.

In the 5-second mode, recording ends before
5 seconds have elapsed.
● The 5-second mode is set to "Anim.".
HSet "5S" to "5S". (
Snapshot mode cannot be used.
● The wide mode (16:9 WIDE) is selected.
HSet "WIDE MODE" to "OFF". (
The color of snapshot looks strange.
● The light source or the subject does not include
white. Or there are various different light sources
behind the subject.
HFind a white subject and compose your shot so
that it also appears in the frame. (
The image taken using snapshot is too dark.
● Shooting was performed under backlit conditions.
HPress BACKLIGHT. (
The image taken using snapshot is too bright.
● The subject is too bright.
HSet exposure to "–3" manually. (
White balance cannot be activated.
● The sepia (SEPIA) or monotone (MONOTONE)
mode is activated.
HDisengage the sepia (SEPIA) or monotone
(MONOTONE) mode before setting white
balance. (

The black & white fader does not work.
● The sepia (SEPIA) or monotone (MONOTONE)
mode is activated.

The image looks like the shutter speed is too
slow.
● When shooting in the dark, the unit becomes
highly sensitive to light when "GAIN UP" is set to
"AUTO".
HIf you want the lighting to look more natural, set
"GAIN UP" to "AGC" or "OFF". (
Although snapshot is attempted, flash does
not take place.
● The subject is too bright with the flash set to
" ±0A" or "C ±0A".
HSet the flash mode to " ±0". (
● If
blinks, the flash is being charged.
HIt can take up to 10 seconds to charge the flash.
● The camcorder is in the record mode.
HSet the camcorder in the record-standby mode.

Although a snapshot is taken with the flash,
red-eye reduction does not take place.
● The subject does not look straight toward the
flash.
● The subject does not look at the first flash, which
is an important part of red-eye reduction.
HThe subject should look straight toward the flash,
especially the first flash. If the subject does not
see the first flash, it will be difficult for red-eye
reduction to take place.
● The camcorder is too far from the subject.
HThe flash is effective for subjects at a distance of
approx. 0.7 m (2 ft) to 2 m (6.5 ft) from the

camcorder.
