For call control, the Cisco Unified IP Phone 9971 supports only Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) on the following applications:
Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.1(3) and later
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express 7.1(3) and later
SRST 7.1(3) and later
Device Support in Cisco Unified Communications Manager
Cisco Unified Communications Manager requires a device package to be installed or service release update in order to enable
Cisco Unified IP Phone 9971 device support.
