Reference Guide for the Model RT338 ISDN Router
The rear panel of the Model RT338 router is shown in
all of the ports on the router when you attempt to make any connections.

1 = Power switch
2 = DC adapter outlet for connecting the DC adapter to the router
3 = UTP Ethernet port for connecting the router to the LAN with UTP cable
4 = RS-232 MANAGER port for connecting the router to the serial port of a PC
5 = ISDN port for connecting the router to ISDN cable
6 = Phone ports for connecting the router to a telephone, fax, or modem

Warning: Some of the connectors and connection cables are very similar, so
always use correct cabling. Serious damage to your router could result if you do
not use the correct cables to connect the ports.

Connecting the Serial Cable (Optional)

If you are planning to configure your router using a serial connection instead of a Telnet session,
you must connect the serial cable to the MANAGER port on the rear panel of the router.
To connect the serial cable:
Plug one end of the 9-pin RS-232 cable into the MANAGER port.

Plug the other end into a serial port (such as COM1 or COM2) of your PC.

Note: You must use the included 9-pin to 25-pin adapter if your PC has only a 25-pin
port available.
