Testing the Path from Your PC to a Remote Device

After verifying that the LAN path works correctly, test the path from your PC to a remote device:
Click Start and select Run.

Type "PING -n 10," followed by the IP address of a remote device such as the DNS

servers ISP.
If the path is functioning correctly, Ping replies as in the previous section. If you did not
receive a reply:
— Check that the PC has the IP address of the router listed as the default gateway. If the IP
configuration of the PC is assigned by DHCP, this information is not visible in the control
panel network utility. To check the IP address:
Click Start and select Run.

Type "winipcfg" and press OK.

The IP address of the router should appear as the default gateway.
— Check to see that the network address of the PC (portion of the IP address specified by the
netmask) is different from the network address of the remote device.
— Check Menu 12 and verify that at least one static route exists.
If the path is still not functioning correctly, the router is unable to establish a connection with the
remote device. Refer to the next section,

Troubleshooting a Remote Node or ISP Connection

To troubleshoot a remote node or an ISP connection:
Verify that the ISDN line is synchronized.

Check that the ISDN D LED is lit, or check the ISDN status in internal Manager interface
Menu 24.1. If the D LED or the menu indicates the ISDN status as down, then refer to
"Troubleshooting the ISDN Line" on page
