Connecting to
Network Devices
You can install up to four, 2-port Fast Ethernet physical modules on to the
7600 Card. Each module can be configured for either 100BASE-Fx or
100BASE-Tx connections.
The 7600 Card is supplied with 12 male/female spacers with which to
attach the physical modules.
To install a physical module on to the 7600 Card module, perform the
following steps:
1 Remove the 7600 Card module from the CELLplex 7000 chassis if it is
already installed.
2 Remove the plate covering the cutout for the connector from the front
panel.
3 Hold the physical module at an angle behind the front panel so the
connectors on the physical module are aligned with the unoccupied
cutout on the front panel, and insert the connector into the cutout. (See
1 in Figure 2-1).

4 Lower the card on to the spacers located on the 7600 Card, making sure
that the screws on the physical module fit into the spacers. (See 2 in
Figure 2-1).
5 Tighten the screws to fix the module in place.
Fast Ethernet TX ports (RJ-45) use CAT-5 STP (shielded twisted pair); Fast
Ethernet FX ports (SC connectors) use multi-mode, fiber cable. The
connectors TP or TX are configured as MDIX, suitable for direct
connection to a workstation or other DTE, using a normal,
straight-through twisted-pair cable. To connect a 7600 Card to another
