Volume
The volume of the PDC signal can be adjusted,
refer to user's manual for Navigation, Enter‐
tainment, Communication.
The setting is stored for the remote control
currently in use.
Visual warning
The approach of the vehicle to an object can
be shown on the Control Display. Objects that
are farther away are displayed on the Control
Display before a signal tone sounds.
A display appears as soon as Park Distance
Control (PDC) is activated.
The range of the sensors is represented in the
colors red, green and yellow.
If the rearview camera image was selected last,
it again appears on the display. To switch to
PDC:
1.
"Rear view camera" Select the symbol
on the Control Display.

Press the controller.
The setting is stored for the remote control

Active Park Distance Control
The concept
Active Park Distance Control assists the driver
while parking by braking the vehicle automati‐
cally when it approaches an obstacle.
The system is available below walking speed in
transmission position D or R. Have the vehicle
roll during parking without pressing the accel‐
erator pedal.
Pressing the gas pedal reduces or interrupts
the braking assistance.
When a collision is imminent, the system auto‐
matically brakes the vehicle until it comes to a
stop.
After automatic braking to a stop, further
creeping toward an obstacle is possible. To

Driving comfort
creep toward the obstacle, lightly press the
gas pedal and release it again.
If the gas pedal is heavily depressed, the vehi‐
cle drives off as usual. Manual braking is possi‐
ble at any time.
General information
Active Park Distance Control uses the ultra‐
sound sensors of PDC and park assistant.
Interactions with DSC:
When DSC is switched off, the automatic
brake assist is deactivated.
If while DSC is switched off the Active Park
Distance Control is switched on, DSC is
also activated.
Note
Personal responsibility
The active Park Distance Control does
not exempt the driver from personal responsi‐
bility during parking.
Watch the parking space and parking proce‐
dure closely, drive slowly and intervene if nec‐
essary; otherwise, there is the danger of an ac‐
cident.◀
Activating system
With PDC activated:
"Active PDC"
To switch it off, select the menu item again or
switch off the PDC.
The setting is stored for the remote control
currently in use.
System limits
Limits of ultrasonic measurement
The detection of objects can reach the physi‐
cal limits of ultrasonic measurement, e.g.:
With tow bars and trailer hitches.
With thin or wedge-shaped objects.
