BEFORE REQUESTING SERVICE
WARNING
Disconnect the electrical supply before servicing or cleaning the vacuum cleaner.
Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or personal injury from vacuum
cleaner suddenly starting.
Review this chart to find do-it-yourself solutions for minor performance problems. Any
service needed, other than those described in these Operating Instructions, should be
performed by an authorized service representative.
PROBLEM

Electrical Shock or Personal Injury Hazard
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1. Unplugged at wall outlet.
2. ON/OFF switch not turned ON.
3. Tripped circuit breaker/blown
fuse.
4. Tripped thermal protector.
1. Full or clogged dust bin.
2. Dirty filters.
3. Hose not inserted fully.
4. Clogged nozzle or dust bin.
5. Clogged hose.
6. Carpet/Bare floor selector in
BARE FLOOR position.
7. Worn agitator.
8. Hole in hose.
9. Broken/misplaced belt.
10. Belt not installed on motor
shaft.
1. Carpet/Bare floor selector in
BARE FLOOR position.
2. Belt installed incorrectly.
3. Broken belt.
1. Tool use restricts air flow.
2. New carpet fuzz clogged
air path.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION
1. Plug in firmly, push on/off
to on. (pages 16 & 17)
2. Push ON/OFF switch to ON. (page

3. Reset circuit breaker or replace
fuse at household service panel.
4. Reset thermal protector. (page 25)
1. Empty dust bin. (page 27)
