OPERATION
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1. Check gear box bolts.
2. Check for missing knives on
cutter shaft
3. Check to see if knives are
free swinging.
4. Blade broken or bent.
1. Damaged Belt Shield
(Rubbing on pulleys or belt)
2. Worn Bearing or Gear
1. Cutting in sandy conditions.
2. Cutting in rocky conditions.
3. Soft "will fit" knives.
1. Belt installed improperly.
2. Blades dull.
3. Grass too wet.
4. Grass too long.
5. Travel speed too fast.
6. PTO RPM too low.
1. Mowing too low.
2. Rough, uneven ground.
3. Turning Tractor too fast.

POSSIBLE REMEDY
Tighten if loose.
Replace missing knives.
Free knives so they swing.
Replace blades.
Straighten or replace Shields.
Replace Bearing or Gear
Increase cutting height.
Increase cutting height.
Use genuine Alamo Industrial
knives.
Check belt for correct set up.
Check blades for sharpness.
Wait for grass to dry.
Mow at 3-1/2" and recut lower.
Use a lower tractor gear.
Mow at engine RPM to match 540
PTO RPM.
Raise height of cut.
Use a Slower Speed.
Lower Rollers.
Slow down when turning.
