I
MPEG Out
You need this setting only when this DVD player is
connected to audio equipment via DIGITAL audio output.
PCM:
Select this when the unit is connected to an audio
component such as an amplifier/receiver, CD recorder or
MD deck via the DIGITAL OUT terminal.
Bitstream:
Select this when the unit is connected to an audio
component equipped with a built-in MPEG decoder via the
DIGITAL OUT terminal.
J
96K LPCM Out
You need this setting only when this DVD player is
connected to an audio equipment via DIGITAL OUT terminal.
96K > 48K:
Select this if the connected audio equipment is not capable
of 96 kHz audio.
96K:
Select this when the connected audio equipment is capable
of 96 kHz audio.
K
Downmix (Expert mode)
To play a DVD disc recorded with surround multi-channel
audio correctly, select either one according to your audio
system.
When an audio component equipped with a built-in Dolby
Digital or DTS decoder is connected via the DIGITAL OUT
terminal and "Digital Out" is set to "Bitstream", the
Downmix setting has no effect.
Multi-Channel:
If you connected this player to your amplifier using the
6 channel analog outputs (front, surround, center and
subwoofer outs), set this to Multi-Channel. If you connected
only the stereo outs, set to Lt/Rt.
Lt/Rt:
Select this when the unit is connected to an audio
component equipped with a built-in Dolby Digital decoder.
Stereo:
This setting outputs 2-channel stereo sound for listening
through the left and right analog outputs.
Select this when the unit is connected to a TV, stereo
amplifier, CD recorder, MD deck, etc.
Notes:
< The default setting is Multi-Channel.
< Depending on the disc content, the actual sound output may
not match the chosen setting.
< Even if you set Downmix to Multi-Channel, you'll get sound
from all speakers only when playing a multi-channel DVD
disc.
< If Lt/Rt is selected, Dolby Digital, DTS and MPEG audio are
mixed down to two channels to allow you to listen to all the
audio recorded on the disc.
