After using the camcorder for a long time, it becomes hot.
- The camcorder may become hot after using it continuously for long periods of time; this is not a malfunction.
If it becomes hot very quickly or it becomes too hot to touch, it may indicate a problem with the camcorder.
Consult a Canon Service Center.
The battery pack is exhausted extremely quickly even at normal temperatures.
- The battery may have reached the end of its battery life. Buy a new battery pack.
Recording
Pressing 1-.?J..il!' / _?.lClEJ will not start recording.
- You cannot record while the camcorder is writing previous recording onto the memory (while the ACCESS
indicator is on or flashing).
- The memory is full or it already contains 3,999 scenes (the maximum number of scenes). Delete some
recordings
(CD
43) or initialize the memory
(CD
32) to free some space.
The point where
fsli:i-rtTSt:ci£:i
was pressed does not match the beginning/end of the recording.
- There is a slight interval between pressing
fsta-itislo-pl
and the actual start of recording. This is not a
malfunction.
- When the pre-recording function is used, the beginning of the scene will differ from when
lSlartis{opl
was
pressed.
The camcorder will not focus.
- Autofocus does not work on the subject. Focus manually
(CD
51).
- Lens is dirty. Clean the lens with a soft lens-cleaning cloth
(OJ
108). Never use tissue paper to clean the lens.
A vertical light bar appears on the screen.
- Bright light in a dark scene may cause a vertical light bar (smear) to appear. This is not a malfunction.
Changing the operating mode between recording (• )/record pause (. II)/playback
(~
) takes longer than
usual.
- When the memory contains a large number of scenes, some operations may take longer than usual. Back up
your recordings
(CD
77) and initialize the memory
(CD
32).
Movies or photos cannot be recorded properly.
- This may occur as movies and photos are recorded/deleted over time. Back up your recordings
(CD
77) and
initialize the memory
(0
32).
Playback
Cannot add scenes to the playlist.
- The playlist cannot contain more than 99 scenes or 100 hours of scenes.
- You may not be able to add scenes to the playlist if they were recorded or edited using another device.
Cannot delete a scene.
- You may not be able to delete scenes recorded or edited using another device.
Deleting scenes takes longer than usual.
- When the memory contains a large number of scenes, some operations may take longer than usual. Back up
your recordings
(CD
77) and initialize the memory
(CD
32).
