5 USING COMPASS MODE

The
mode allows you to orient yourself in relation to magnetic North.
COMPASS
In
mode you can access the following views with [View]:
COMPASS
● Time: shows the current time
● Cardinals: show the current heading
● Bearing tracking: shows the current bearing according to your set
heading (tracking bearing)

5.1 Getting correct readings

You need to keep the device level while in
Core while in
COMPASS
in order to give you correct readings.
The compass will switch itself to power saving mode in 40 seconds if no buttons
are pressed. Reactivate it with [Start Stop].

5.1.1 Calibrating compass

Local magnetic fields affect the performance of the compass. It needs to be
calibrated to ensure that it gives correct readings.
Automatic compass calibration compensates for the effects of local magnetic
fields usually, automatic calibration will be sufficient. Sometimes automatic
calibration will be insufficient, and the device will prompt you to hold the
device level and rotate it in order to get correct readings.
