Serverboard Features

The SuperServer 6016T-6F is built around the X8DT6-F, a dual processor
serverboard based on the Intel IOH-36D + ICH10R chipset and designed to provide
maximum performance. Below are the main features of the X8DT6-F. (See Figure
1-1 for a block diagram of the chipset).

Processors

The X8DT6-F supports single or dual Intel® Xeon 5600/5500 Series processors.
Please refer to the serverboard description pages on our web site for a complete
listing of supported processors (www.supermicro.com).

Memory

The X8DT6-F has twelve DIMM slots that can support up to 192 GB of ECC regis-
tered DDR3-1333/1066/800 or up to 48 GB of ECC unbuffered DDR3-1333/1066/800
SDRAM. Memory mirroring is supported. See Chapter 5 for details.

SAS

An LSI 2008 SAS controller is integrated into the serverboard to support eight SAS2
ports, which are RAID 0, 1 and 10 capable. The SAS drives are hot-swappable
units. SAS RAID 5 is also supported with the AOC-SAS2-RAID5-KEY (optional)
installed on the serverboard.
Note: The operating system you use must have RAID support to enable the hot-
swap capability and RAID function of the SAS drives.

Serial ATA

A Serial ATA controller is integrated into the ICH10R (South Bridge) portion of the
IOH-36D chipset to provide a six-port 3 Gb/s SATA subsystem, which is RAID 0, 1,
10 and 5 supported. The SATA drives are hot-swappable units.
Note: The operating system you use must have RAID support to enable the hot-
swap capability and RAID function of the SATA drives. RAID 5 requires the use
of an iButton.

PCI Expansion Slots

The X8DT6-F has three PCI-Express 2.0 x8 slots, one PCI-Express 2.0 x4 slot and
one PCI-Express x4 slot. For the 6016T-6F server, one PCI-Express x8 add-on card
is supported with the use of a riser card (included).
