    Telephone base and charger installation Install the telephone base and charger as shown below. Electrical outlet not controlled Telephone wall jack Electrical outlet by a wall switch not controlled by a wall switch A DSL filter (not included) is required if you have DSL high-speed Internet service.

    Battery charging Once you have installed the battery, the screen indicates the battery status (see the table below). For best performance, keep the handset in the telephone base or charger when not in use. The battery is fully charged after 2 hours of continuous charging.

    Quiet mode You can turn on the quiet mode for a period of time. During this period, all tones (except paging tone) and call screening are muted. When you turn on the quiet mode, the answering system turns on automatically. Press and hold when the handset is not in use.

    Temporary tone dialing If you have pulse (rotary) service only, you can switch from pulse to tone dialing temporarily during a call. During a call, press Use the dialing keys to enter the relevant number. The telephone sends touch-tone signals. It automatically returns to pulse dialing mode after you end the call.
