Operating Instructions
WARNING: The operation of any chipper shredder can result in for-
eign objects beingthrown intothe eyes, which can damageyoureyes
severely.Always wear the safety glasses provided with this unit or
eye shields before chipping or shredding and while performingany
adjustmentsor repairs.
Always use the proper personalsafety equipmentbefore startingthis
machine:
1.
Ear protection
2.
Gloves
3.
Eyeprotection
Add Gasoline and Oil
Step1: Addgasoline
Step2: Addapproximately1.1quartsof 10W-30oil (5W-30is recommended
for coldweatherclimate) untilthe oil is aboutto overflowfrom the oil fill
spout. A low oil sensorwill preventthe enginefrom runningunlessthe oil is
COMPLETELY FULL.
Ensure both oil fill plugs on the engine are secure after
filling.
WARNING: Never fill fuel tank indoors with engine running or until
the engine has been allowed to cool for at least two minutes after
running.
Startingthe Engine
Step3: Attach sparkplug wire to sparkplug.Makecertain the metal capon
the endof the sparkplug is fastenedsecurelyoverthe metaltip on the spark
plug.
Step4: Movechokeleveron engineto CHOKE position.(A warm enginemay
not requirechoking).
Step5: Turnthe fuel valve to the ONposition.
Step6: Recoil s tart: Graspstarter handleandpull ropeout slowly until en-
gine reachesstart of compression cycle(ropewill pull slightlyharderat this
point). Pullropewith a rapid, continuous, f ull armstroke. Keepa firm gripon
starterhandle.Letthe rope rewindslowly. Repeat t he previousstepsuntil
enginefires. Donot pull for morethan4 times betweenintervals.
Step7: Electricstart: FollowStep3 to Step5, then plug any120Voutdoor
extensioncordinto the 120VExtension CordConnection(SeeFigure 6),and
thenpushthe RedStarterButtonto startthe engine.Donot runstartermore
than10 times at intervalsof 5 seconds On/ 5 seconds Off.
Step8: When enginestarts,movechokecontrolgraduallyto the RUNposi-
tion. (SeeFigure7)

Usingthe ChipperShredder
Yard wastesuch asleaves a ndpine needles c anberaked upandplaced inthefunnel
assembly for shredding.DO NOTPUT BRANCHESINTO THE TOPFUN-
NEL. BRANCHESSHOULDBE FEDINTO THE SIDE CHIPPERCHUTE.
If usingthe side chipper chuteto chip branches, it is important to let
the chipper feed the branchesthroughautomatically. DO NOT at-
temptto force the branchesthrough. If the branchesdo not automati-
cally feedthrough,gentlypushthe branch andthen allow the chipper
to automatically feedthe branchthrough. Forcingbranchesinto the
side chute may wear the belt prematurely.
After the materialhasbeenshreddedbythe flail bladeson the impeller
assembly,it will be discharged out of openingor into chip catcherbag.
Donot attempt to shredor chipany materialotherthan vegetationfound in a
normalyard(i.e.branches,leaves,twigs, etc.) Avoidfibrous plantssuchas
tomatovinesuntil they are thoroughlydried out.Twigs andsmallbranchesup
to 4" in diametercanbe fed into the chipperchute.
IMPORTANT:Theflail screenis locatedinsidethe housinginthe discharge
area.If the flail screenbecomesclogged,removeandcleanas instructed. For
best performance, i t is alsoimportantto keepthe chipperbladesharp.
To Emptythe Chip Bag
Stopthe engine.
Release the drawstring and remove the bag from the discharge chute.
Empty bag and reattach to the discharge chute opening.
