all rocks,bottles, cans,or otherforeignobjectswhichcould be pickedup
or thrown andcausepersonalinjury or damageto the machine.
Alwayswear safetyglassesor safetygoggles,andgloves,duringop-
erationor while performingan adjustmentor repair,to protecteyes.
Thrownobjectswhich ricochetcancauseseriousinjury to the eyes.
Wear sturdy,rough-soledwork shoesandclosefittingslacksandshirts.
Loose fitting clothesor Jewelry canbe caughtin movableparts.Never
operatethis machinein barefeet or sandals.Wear leatherwork gloves
when feedingmaterialin the chipperchute.
Beforestarting,checkall bolts andscrewsfor propertightnessto be
surethe machineis in safeworking condition.Also,visuallyinspect
machinefor anydamageat frequentintervals.
Maintainor replacesafetyand instructionslabels, asnecessary.
Toavoid personalinjury or propertydamageuseextremecare inhan-
dling gasoline.Gasolineis extremelyflammableandthe vaporsare
explosive.Seriouspersonalinjurycan occurwhen gasolineis spilled on
yourselfor yourclotheswhich can ignite.Washyour skinandchange
clothesimmediately.

Useonlyan approvedgasolinecontainer.
b.
Extinguish all cigarettes,cigars,pipes,andothersourcesof
ignition.
c.
Neverfuel machineindoors.
d.
Neverremovegascap or addfuel while the engine is hot or
running.
e.
Allow engineto coolat least two minutesbefore refueling.
f.
Neveroverfill fuel tank. Filltank to no morethan 1/2 inch
below bottomof filler neckto providespacefor fuel expan-
sion.
g.
Replace gasolinecapandtighten securely.
h.
If gasolineis spilled,wipe it off the engineandequipment.
Movemachineto anotherarea.Wait 5 minutesbeforestart-
ingthe engine.
i.
Neverstorethe machineor fuel containerinsidewhere there
is an openflame,spark,or pilot light (e.g.furnace,water
heater,spaceheater,clothesdryer,etc.).
j.
To reducea fire hazard,keepmachinefree of grass,leaves,
or otherdebrisbuild-up.Cleanup oil or fuel spillageand
remove any fuel soakeddebris.
k.
Allow machineto cool at least5 minutesbeforestoring.
Operation
1.
Donot put handsandfeet near rotatingparts or in the feedingchambers
anddischarge opening.Contactwith the rotatingimpellercan amputate
fingers,hands,andfeet.
2.
Beforestartingthe machine, m akesurethe chipperchute,feed intake,
andcuttingchamberare emptyandfree of all debris.
3.
Thoroughly inspectall materialto be shreddedandremoveanymetal,
rocks,bottles,cans,or otherforeignobjectswhich couldcausepersonal
injury or damageto the machine.
4.
If it becomesnecessary to pushmaterialthroughthe shredderhopper,
usea small diameterstick.Donot useyourhandsor feet.
5.
If the impeller strikesa foreignobjector if your machineshouldstart
makingan unusual n oiseor vibration, immediately shut the engineoff.
Allow the impellerto cometo a completestop. Disconnect t he spark
plug wire, groundit againstthe engineandperformthe following steps:
a.
Inspectfor damage.
b.
Repairor replaceany damagedparts.
c.
Check for any looseparts andtighten to assurecontinued
safe operation.

Donot allow an accumulationof processed materialto build up in the
discharge area.Thiscan preventproperdischargeandresultin kickback
of materialthroughthe feedopening.
7.
Donot attempt to shredor chipmateriallargerthan specifiedon the
machineor in this manual.Personal i njury or machinedamagecould
result.
8.
Neverattempt to unclogeither the feed intakeor dischargeopening
while the engine is running.Shutthe engineoff, wait until all moving
partshavestopped,disconnect t he sparkplugwire andgroundit against
the enginebeforeclearingdebris.
9.
Neveroperatewithout the shredderfunnel, chipperchute,or discharge
chuteproperlyattachedto the machine.Neveremptyor changedis-
chargebagwhile the engine is running.
10. Keepall guards,deflectorsandsafetydevicesin placeandoperating
properly.
11. Keepyourface andbodybackandto the sideof the chipperchutewhile
feedingmaterialinto the machineto avoidaccidental k ickbackinjuries.
12. Neveroperatethis machinewithout goodvisibility or light.
13. Donot operatethis machineon a paved,gravelor non-levelsurface.
14. Donot operatethis machinewhile underthe influenceof alcoholor
drugs.
15. Muffler andenginebecomehot andcan causea burn.Donot touch.
16. Neverpickupor carrymachinewhile the engineis running.
