Troubleshooting chart

Starting problems or poor engine performance
WARNING
Keep away open flames and do not smoke while checking or working on the fuel system.
1. Fuel
Check if there is fuel
in the tank.
2. Compression

Use electric starter.
3. Ignition
Remove spark plug
and check electrode.
4. Battery
Use electric
starter.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR
Enough fuel.
Go to compression check.
Supply fuel.
No fuel.
There is compres-
sion.
Ask Yamaha dealer to inspect.
No compression.
Wipe clean with dry cloth and correct spark plug
Wet.
gap or replace spark plug.
Dry.
Ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect.
Engine turns over
Battery good.
