Tips
Howling
If sound from the speakers is picked up by a MIC and output again
through the speakers, the result is a screeching sound known as
"howling". Perform the following steps to eliminate howling.
(1) Move the MIC away from speakers.
(2) Turn the MIC volume knob counterclockwise to lower the vol-
ume level.
(3) Turn the Digital Echo level knob (P.29) counterclockwise to lower

the echo level.
Display between songs
(With DVDs, CDs, and Video CDs.)
When in the KARAOKE MODE (when the KARAOKE MODE indicator
on the front panel is lit), during pause or when a disc has stopped
playing, an karaoke bird characters are displayed.
When no discs loaded
Automaic DVD detection function
On some DVD karaoke discs, track numbers are indicated by title
numbers, while on other DVD karaoke discs, track numbers are indi-
cated by chapter numbers. When this player's DIRECT SEARCH mode
is set to AUTO, these kinds of DVDs are automatically detected, and
tracks can be selected using the number buttons.
However, auto detection of some discs is not possible. In this case,
set the DIRECT SEARCH mode to match the DVD track number type
(Title or Chapter).
(1) when there is a DVD loaded in the player (in the stop or play mode
), press the remote control MODE button.
(2) Select TITLE or CHAPTER using the remote control 2 , 3 but-
tons, and press ENTER.
¶ When you eject a disc, the DIRECT SEARCH mode returns to the
AUTO setting.
Guide melody function (see page 33)
With DVD karaoke discs featuring a recorded guide melody, you can
switch GUIDE MELODY ON or OFF.
(1) Press the remote Control MODE button 3 times.
(2) Switch GUIDE MELODY ON or OFF using the remote control 2 ,
