Chapter 4 - Entering Text

4.1 Using the Onscreen Keyboard

When you start a program or select a field that requires text or numbers, the
onscreen keyboard becomes available. You can choose from these keyboard
layouts: QWERTY keyboard and Phone keypad.
To select the keyboard layout to use
By default, the phone displays the QWERTY keyboard when you are entering text.
1. Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Locale & Text.
2. Select Touch Input Chinese, and then select QWERTY keyboard or
Phone keypad as desired.

Using the landscape onscreen keyboard

When entering text, turn the phone sideways to use the landscape orientation of
the onscreen keyboard and easily type using your thumbs.
Notes • The Orientation check box in HOME > MENU > Settings > Sound & display
needs to be selected for the screen orientation to automatically change.
• The landscape orientation keyboard is supported only in some applications.
