What is a Point?

A "point" is a detection device, or group of devices
connected to the security system. Points display
individually with custom text. The text can describe a
single door, motion sensor, smoke detector, or an area
such as UPSTAIRS or GARAGE. There are two basic
types of points, controlled and 24-hour.

Controlled points respond to alarm conditions
depending upon whether the system is turned on
(armed) or turned off (disarmed). Controlled points
are programmed to respond instantly to alarm
